Brief introduction

The way that we lead our lives in the western world has led to a significant rise in patients with hypersomnia and insomnia and the association of obesity with obstructive sleep apnea and sleep-disordered breathing emphasizes the importance of sleep in public health.

However, sleep disorders remain under-recognized by the medical community, due largely to the failure to question patients about their sleep quality.

Clinical Update on Sleep Disorders, will review the latest research for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea.

The topics will be grouped according to the symptomatic presentation of patients with hypersomnia, parasomnia and insomnia.

The 2019 Clinical Sleep Update conference in Milan will be the first held in Italy after the 3 successful meetings in London (2014, 2016 and 2018).

The concept behind these series of conferences is to try to put together the best sleep knowledge delivered by the most prominent and expert clinicians and scientists around the world.

The 4th Clinical Update Sleep 2019 is endorsed by: the European Hypertension Society, the Italian Society for Arterial Hypertension, the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine, the World Sleep Society, the Italian Association of ENTs, the European Sleep Research Society and the Technical Panel for sleepiness and safety in OSA patients.

The Journal of Thoracic Disease (JTD) have been appointed as the exclusive publishers of the conference proceedings.

Key topics covered include:
